Rhino's resting..........

#23 The End

Well this little Rhino is having a rest after completing the Web 2.0 tasks.
I have played in the sandbox, listened to podcasts, looked at photos, explored you tube just to name a few. Some I will definetely revisit while others were less successful.
It has been interesting to visit sites that I didn't know existed and without Web 2.0 this would not have been possible.

#22 Audiobooks

I tried unsuccessfully to listen to a book. It was very slow to even get into the site.
I don't see myself investigating this in the future. Nothing like a book to read. It would be my luck if I had it on the laptop or mp3 player that the batteries ran out right when you wanted to know "who did it".
For anyone who didn't have access to the library and could work out how to load it on to an mp3 player it would be a good thing. Depends on the number of titles that are available free.
Its hard to browse online.

#21 Podcasts

Had a look at a few things in podcast. Radio broadcast and some travel ones. They were interesting but I don't think I can see myself using it in the future.
The Library may use it publicize events or to show changes to our services.

# 20 You Tube

I had a great time looking and playing with You Tube. Their must be so many people out there with too much time on their hands.

#19 Web 2.0 awards

Well I started my adventure with a look at cocktailbuilder.com just to get relaxed. It was then time to catch up with friends with a look at Facebook and My Space.I ended the session with a look at the games sites. The possibilites are endless if you have the time and enjoy the whole sharing on-line. I'm afraid that this is not for me.

# 18 online productivity

This is a great idea. Would have been so useful before we had wordprocessing on our computers. I was unsuccessful in posting something to my blog.

# 16 Wikis

I had a look at wiki's but don't think it's for me.
I can see the dangers in it as anyone can change the information.
It can't be always seen as reliable for any research.
For a group with a common interest it would be great for sharing ideas.
In a Library it maybe uselful for patrons reviewing books and also reading other patrons thoughts about titles they may want to read.

# 15 Web 2.0, Library 2.0

Not ready for the "online world".
I don't like spending time sitting in front of a computer and definetly can not see myself taking the laptop to bed to enjoy my evening read.
I'm also not a big one for the whole "sharing online".
This of course maybe the way of the future but I feel it will be a little while before it lands in Geelong.
A coffee shop in the Library I would enjoy.

# 12 Rollyo

This would be useful if you had a particular interest or area of research. I used the travel search and think that it might be something I would look at in the future.

#14 Technorati

Had a look at Technorati and its another thing that if you had the time and interest it would be great.

# 13 Del.icio.us

I had a look at del.icio.us but didn't open an account.

#11 Library Thing

Easy to set up but was unable to transfer to my blog. Interesting to use.Great if you liked sharing reviews and looking for new books to read. I don't think I will use it.

#10 Image Generator

This was an interesting exercise.Very time consuming looking for something to do. I finally decided to design a new coffee in keeping with the Rhino theme. Its a "Frothy Rhino", strong and robust in flavor with a creamy layer of froth on top.... Enjoy.
Image generator would be useful for anyone scrapbooking, card making or playing round and having fun. This is not something I will probably use.

9 News feeds

I found this interesting but did not have any success in subscribing. I understand the concept and think that it could be great for anyone wanting up to date information available from their own computer.

RSS Feeds

I have found this interesting. Previously I have always gone to the same sites. Now I could get current information without all the hassle. It would require having time, which is something I don't have or choose not to have. I'm not a big one for sitting in front to the computer screen. I haven't always had alot of confidence and didn't like to just click on links. Now it will be the new me.

Technology

Computers have changed libraries. My first job had me filing cards and now we scan a barcode. Patrons can access their own record at home.

The above link is to a 32 ford coupe. A great looking hotrod.
I have enjoyed exploring Flickr. It would be great to take it
further and post my own photos.
I'm intending on doing a trip to the States and would love to
use what I've learned in Flickr to map out my travels. This
is something I would never have discovered without
Learning 2.0.

Blogging

This is my first experience with blogging. Looking forward to learning new things.
